Deadline #6, HW#1, Reading Reflection:

In chapter four it talks about the structure of an argument. It talks about arguments based on facts and reason and how those are statement + proof and claim + supporting evidence. It focused on different facts that you can use when writing a paper and the pros and cons of those types of facts. Like, statistics and how those are good but could be manipulated by the way you present them or like surveys and polls and how they are good because they give you a lot of information fast but people could be dis-honest or the questions could be aimed to make you answer a certain way. That is why first hand evidence, like talked about in chapter 16, is the best information to use when writing a paper. Observations, interviews, surveys & questionnaires, experiments, personal experiences are just a few examples of first hand evidence. Second hand evidence is good information but you have to keep in mind that it is someone else’s first hand evidence and opinions.
