Deadline #7, Hw #3

I also shared this document on GoogleDocs with the class.........

My paper is on how the two party system is hindering America’s progression on current issues. These articles help reiterate this statement.

This website goes into detail of the history of the two party system. It talks about how it started with Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton and their perceptions of how they thought the constitution should be views. Essentially it was formed after Hamilton thought there should be a national bank and more federal responsibilities while Jefferson feared Tyranny.

This website is good to show the oppose side to my argument. He compares the two party system to two attorneys in a trial and how we need both sides to even each out. This makes sense to me and I will add some of this in my final paper.

This one talks about the two party system and elections. She talks about with the two party system you get extremes from both sides and there are no middle grounds. She calls this system a “hoax” and brings up some good ideas about the system and how we might change it.

http://www.wsws.org/articles/2006/dec2006/iraq-d04.shtml

In this website it goes into detail the problems our country is facing regarding the war in Iraq. It talks about Democrats getting voted into office last November in hopes of pulling out of Iraq but that they ultimately still can’t do anything without President Bush’s (republican) approval.

Here is just another perfect example of “Republican vs. Democrat” regarding the war in Iraq. It talks about the dems being able to go over the presidents head and pull out of Iraq but they won’t because of political reasons.

http://www.v-a.com/communication/two-party_system.html

This article is a pro for the two party system. It talks about many different current issues facing America today. It talks about checks and balances and how the democrats and republicans do that for each other so neither can have full power over the U.S.

http://www.mtymcayouthandgovernment.org/party_system.htm

This website does an awesome job of explaining our current government, the two party system, and even gives a voice to the third party system. It gives information of pros and cons of the two party system; why it was first formed and why it may or may not be effective today.

http://www.realdemocracy.com/bench7.htm

On this website – he goes through a simple 3 step plan of demolishing the two party grip.
He suggest not registering with any party affiliation and then voting for who comes closest to your moral views. That seems simple enough. He goes into detail of why these things would work. I like this and I will probably take some ideas from this article.
